We live in quite a bubble at Bennington. Over the past 75 years, a very distinct world has been molded and, while we are constantly encouraged to set our sights beyond it, it's sometimes shocking to move outside the environment we have grown so accustomed to and step into the “real world.”

40 students met Wednesday evening in the Student Center in what was perhaps the largest gathering of independent students to discuss a unified action all semester. The discussion was about SEPC’s letter to the Board of Trustees, which concerned asking for student, faculty and staff representation and the unofficial response by the Chairman, Deborah Wadsworth that which forwarded to the student body on May 17.

Typically, when thinking about this college beyond my own time here, I quickly become frustrated with what could, but likely can’t, be a part of Bennington’s future so long as the current situation continues. I have a tough time discerning whether or not the frustration is either reasonable in the facts of our current situation or unreasonable due to my dealings with, in my own experience, an unbalanced and profoundly out-of-touch administration. I’m not going to delve into my personal academic dog-and-pony show experience, as I can deliver the tale much better in person when I’m able to fully illustrate the various inadequacies ranging from numerous unresponded e-mails to the utter fabrications surrounding a particular faculty hire, and at this point, their failure on me as a student is moot.

Bennington College is a school whose students are encouraged to claim a wide variety of unique freedoms and opportunities. It is also a school with, possibly, the most frightened, repressed, and voiceless faculty in the nation. It is no secret that at Bennington teachers, instructors, and professors don’t talk about Administrative decisions or initiatives—they whisper. Even at this crucial moment in the college’s history when President Coleman claims her “New Initiative” will revive a “dead” Liberal Arts, few, if any, faculty seem willing to publicly discuss or question what this might mean for the college’s Disciplines or the student body. The following interview is a rare attempt to voice dissent and provoke timely questions concerning the operations of our College’s Administration.

For such a plot-heavy film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's story isn't all that gripping.

I can't believe that I am writing my last BFP article. Last summer, I wanted to start this column as a way to talk to people about how much I love cooking and food.

The 2009-2010 season has been a year of two major impacts, the league becoming smaller and quicker and the frequency of injuries. The draft class this year has been argued as the best draft class for point guards possibly ever.

Starting May 5, regular pay (non Federal Work Study) student employees in VAPA were required to cut their work hours to three hours per week. Students and employers were forced to rearrange schedules in order to cut back for the sake of the VAPA Budget.

According to Dr. Martha Lauzen’s annual Celluoid Ceiling Report, a collection of statistics of women’s appearances as professional filmmakers in Hollywood, only 8% of screenwriters working today are female.

I consider myself to be a pretty big fan of The Fall. Despite this, I will admit to not having known about their last album, 2008's Imperial Wax Solvent

Would you believe me if I said another Clinton is in the White House and influencing the world’s runways?

Well. It’s the last issue already. When did that happen? Time for me to remind you all of what’s going on outside our ridiculous bubble before it pops. Let’s start with what has turned into a running theme for this column: Fuckery in Somalia.

With only two weeks left before I graduate, it’s slowly beginning to dawn on me that this is it—every event, every activity, every class I attend is the last I will ever have here.
